Hope everyone is having a great start to a Happy New Year. Everyone is our household has a bug, not necessarily the flu but something nasty just the same. Not a great start for us.
We finally have the cover illustration for our second book, “Robby’s Quest – Ocean Bound”. We are adding a few color illustration to the second book. Although we realize the book manufacturing costs are going to increase, we want to at least try adding illustrations. We went back and added some color pictures to the first eBook. The new paperback cover for the first book looks nice so I think we are finished messing with it. We have made changes and uploaded the eBook at least a dozen times. At some point you have to stop critiquing it and leave the book alone. The learning curve to self-publish is huge. Hopefully we will learn from the mistakes of the first book and apply these lessons to the future books.
Marketing the book has not been easy. Most days we never sell a book in any format. It is frustrating because it would be nice to at least break even. We began by self- publishing our book on Amazon Kindle as an eBook. Then we self-published at Createspace on paperback. Since then we published the eBook at Barnes & Noble and now on Smashwords. Smashwords is nice because they convert your book into several formats including Kindle, Apple iPad, Sony Reader, epub and others. We have links to every site selling our book on our website http://www.dcrushbooks.com
We also made a book trailer at YouTube. Kinda cheesy but it’s a start http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7NC4U6DhV8
The one nice thing about marketing a book is that you stay busy. The days definitely go by quickly. However, I’m not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing at my age 🙂
